An Insight into Grecia - the cleanest town in Costa Rica

"The famous "metal church"

One claim to fame is that Grecia is one of the cleanest towns in Costa Rica with very nice people. From our visits this is essentially correct.

You will also find a nice Catholic "metal church" built in 1897 - one tale is that this church was prefabricated and sent by ship to Grecia (Greece) but got delivered here instead by mistake.

Around the central park you can visit the Museo de cultura or the cultural museum with 200 years of history. This is a nice stop on the way to Sarchi and the Arenal volcano.

Near Grecia is the World of Snakes with a collection of more than 300 species from around the world. We are not snake wiz's but one visiting snake expert guest was pretty impressed with the collection here.

But most of all we enjoy Grecia as a place on the way to somewhere surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and coffee plantations.
