An Insight into Montezuma

"From Cabo Blanco - a great local visit"
This remote coastal village is a long-time favorite for adventure travelers in Costa Rica. The little town is picturesque and famed for its bohemian flair and the beauty of the surrounding nature.

The town's center is a community where a continuous mellow party takes place. Just sit down in some bar or eatery and watch the scenery: hippies, tourists and beauties with eccentric tattoos and piercing catwalk amongst the colorful stands of itinerant artists who are chatting and joking with their neighbors. So says www.nicoyapeninsula.com/montezuma/index.html.

It is pretty accurate from our last trip there. Don't forget to visit Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve while you are there.

It is always fun to see who is writing stuff in Wikepedia - they add that due to the similarity to the climate of the Mediterranean coast, Montezuma is very popular among Europeans (and there's a fair share of Rastafarians too). The road to Montezuma is often in not so good shape but many people find the destination is worth the numerous pot-holes. Secluded beaches can be reached by forest trails on either side of the town.

A major attraction is Montezuma waterfall, which is a twenty minute walk from town. Residents sometimes dive off of the 100-foot summit of the waterfall, amazing tourists with their usually death-defying dives. As always check with your local hotel owner for the best things they like to do in the area - there is no substitute for good advice in a place like Montezuma. A nice place!
