An Insight into Orosi

"From La Colina"

The village of Orosi is the center of one of the main coffee growing regions. There is a church of San Jose de Orosi built by the Franciscans in 1735. The church adjoins a small religious art museum - this all is adjacent to the nice village square.

Near Orosi you need to stop at the unique Casa del Sonador (house of the dreamer) which was built by a local wood sculptor Macedonia Quesada. Various sculptures are built into this little house by the side of this "road less traveled". His son and "the apprentice" are still here, carving interesting statues out coffee wood. On the road to Orosi is Parque Dona Anacleto where you can stop to take in the fabulous views of the valley from the Mirador Orosi. There are some hot springs one of the local hotels keeps telling us we "must visit" but we have not yet. The Orosi valley is a very nice stop over after a visit to the Irazu volcano and is not far from Lankaster Gardens (a must see).
