An Insight into Parrita

On the route from Jaco to Quepos/Manuel Antonio is Parrita this place is famous for the African oil palm and plantation villages of green painted wooden houses. We found a description like that in a guide book but quite why they use the word "famous" we are not sure. The oil palm used to be very popular in cooking until it was determined to be very high in some fats that are no good for you.

The local school near the squatter village a couple of km inland is worth a visit particularly if you have some books to bring the kids.
