An Insight into Sarchi

"From La Colina"

This pretty village is home of the wood artisans of Costa Rica who carve and paint oxcarts, wooden bowls, carving boards, plates etc.

Nestled in the countryside of Costa Rica's Alajuela province (40 minutes from the Pura Vida Hotel), in Sarchi you find the Butterfly Valley where you can learn about the cycles of more than 40 species. There are some factories you can visit including oxcart factory of Joaquin Chaverri founded in 1903. Sarchi is the perfect place to finish off your trip and find those gifts for family and friends. The drive to Sarchi through the coffee plantations is worth the visit - beautiful country.
